GREEN INVESTMENTS IN TOURISM INDUSTRY

The contribution of the tourist sector in employment and economic development as well as the European Union environmental policy (Amsterdam agreement article 2), that requires the inclusion of environmental and employment concerns in all EU policies, high standards protection of the environment and integration of environmental criteria in the tourism development, are the main reasons for the proposition of this pilot project. 

The purpose of the pilot project  “Green Investments in Tourism Industry” is the creation of new opportunities on Professional Training in the sector of Sustainable Tourism.

The participants are professional training organizations and development enterprises from Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland and Rumania. The Cyprus participants are, RAI Consultants Services Ltd, Cyprus Tourism Organization, Dherynia Municipality, Pafos Municipality, Yermasoyia Municipality, Kalavasos Community, Cyprus Hotel Association, College of Tourism and Hotel Management, Louis Tourist Agency Ltd, LCI Laureate Conference and Incentive Travel Ltd.

The target group of the project covers all types of organizations and enterprises, all trainees of all levels in the Tourism and Environmental Protection sectors. More specifically the target groups are educational, vocational training, public and local authority organizations, syndicates and unions of businessmen and enterprises. 

The project “Green Investments in Tourism Industry” covers the following needs:

  • The development of a network for the exchange of information and experience in Environmental Tourism

  • The development and operation of a Virtual Training Center and a Virtual Meeting Room for the environment

  • The development of Manuals on Quality Management of Tourism Units

  • The development of a Virtual Library

  • The development of e-learning seminars on Environmental Tourism

  • The organization of meetings and workshops

  • The dissemination of the outcomes
